DUBAI, UAE / RankWire.AI / – The UAE-based airline flydubai has expanded its flight capacity to Italy in response to rising international travel demand. Official information from Emirates News Agency confirms that flydubai is increasing its operations within Italy by adding more flights to key commercial hubs. Starting July 31, 2026, the airline will operate double flights daily between Dubai and Milan-Bergamo, while also strengthening its presence in Naples with daily round-trip services.

flydubai adds double daily flights to Milan Bergamo from July
Airline management teams allocate commercial fleet capacity to high demand travel markets.

This new schedule broadens the airline’s overall reach in Italy, which already includes three weekly flights to Catania Airport in Sicily and seasonal summer flights twice a week to Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport in Sardinia, running through August’s end. Additionally, the airline announced operational changes due to scheduled infrastructure work in Southern Italy. During maintenance at Naples International Airport, flydubai will temporarily reroute its daily Dubai International Airport flights to Salerno Costa d’Amalfi and Cilento Airport from November 1 to November 30, 2026. Regular flights to Naples are expected to restart on December 1, 2026, with passengers holding existing bookings automatically transferred to the Salerno route during this period.

Codeshare Agreement Enhances Passenger Connectivity via Dubai Hub

The additional routes to Milan-Bergamo and Naples are operated under the existing codeshare partnership between flydubai and Emirates, the international flag carrier. This cooperation offers passengers integrated travel options, single-ticket purchasing, synchronized schedules, and through-checked baggage across both airlines. Connecting through Dubai’s central hub, travelers from Italian airports benefit from streamlined access to major long-haul destinations across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, including direct routes to Kenya, Oman, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Zanzibar.

This capacity increase aligns with wider trends in commercial aviation within the Middle East and Europe, where international passenger numbers have steadily rebounded post-pandemic. The rise in flight frequencies supports expanding bilateral trade, investments, and tourism between the UAE and Italy. The introduction of double daily flights to Milan-Bergamo offers greater capacity for business travelers targeting Italy’s financial and industrial centers, while daily flights to Southern Italy cater to the growing seasonal tourist demand for cultural and scenic destinations along the Amalfi Coast.

Commenting on the expansion, Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer of flydubai, pointed out that Milan and Naples have become vital gateways within the airline’s European network. He emphasized that maintaining reliable regional access remains a priority, alongside a long-term commitment to improving connectivity to underserved markets. Al Ghaith also noted that market data indicates that flydubai’s enhanced operations in Italy with increased frequencies are designed to meet the rising passenger flow between the United Arab Emirates and Italy, especially as travel volumes accelerate toward the winter season.

Major Airports Serve as Direct Access Points for Travelers

Jeyhun Efendi, the Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, highlighted that boosting non-stop flights to Naples and Milan-Bergamo underscores the strategic significance of the Italian market. Efendi explained that such direct connections allow international travelers to utilize the combined reach of flydubai and Emirates for seamless access to global destinations through Dubai. The airline’s commercial leadership assured that fleet plans and operational teams are ready to support the increased flight schedule, maintaining high operational reliability for both passenger and cargo services.

These enhancements in Italy are part of flydubai’s broader fleet expansion and international network development strategy. As the airline continues acquiring modern narrow-body aircraft, it aims to further increase frequencies on high-demand European routes. The expanded Italian flight options help Dubai sustain its role as a global aviation hub, facilitating smooth passenger and freight movements between Europe and destinations across the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and East Africa.
